Also known as Java Apple or Wax Apple, is a beautifully sculpted fruit with a distinctive bell like shape and glossy skin that almost appears polished. Its smooth surface has a natural waxy sheen, giving rise to its popular name. Beneath the delicate skin lies crisp white or pale pink flesh that is intensely juicy, fragrant and refreshing.

The flavour is subtle and clean rather than sweet, carrying soft notes of watermelon and fresh apple with a cooling finish. The flesh is usually seedless and can be eaten whole without peeling, making it one of the most effortless and refreshing fruits to enjoy straight out of hand.

Across South and Southeast Asia, Rose Apple is valued as a thirst quenching fruit during hot and humid seasons. In its green stage it is commonly used in pickles, salads and chutneys, offering crunch and freshness. As it ripens to pink and deep red, it is most often eaten fresh.
